Ty Tie-Dye

Ty doesn't get a lot of opportunities to sport shirts with cartoon characters on them during the week because his school does not allow that. So when a warm weekend arrives (not on a regular basis this January here in Texas) he grins at the chance to wear his favorites.

We picked this one up last summer at Disney World. At that time it was a little big on him. (See an older post here). And you guessed it, now it fits just right. By the summer it will probably be too small. Such is the wardrobe of a fast growing boy.

Dino Party

Last weekend we went to one of Ty's classmates homes to celebrate his birthday. The theme was a dino adventure. The kids got little explorer outfits to put on (a la Jurassic Park) and also received face paint. Ty had a blast hunting for dinosaurs, making fossils and creating a volcano.

Go Dynamo

Ty discovered that I had this bright orange scarf in my closet. It is from the Texian Army, one of the official fan groups of the Houston Dynamo. I picked it up last season when I had tickets to their soccer games.

Ty wrapped the scarf around his neck and I added a Dynamo hat as well. It all coordinates quite well with the orange pirate dinosaur on his pajamas. He is also giving me his favorite air guitar pose.

Umbrella Chips?

A
s we were getting ready for school this morning, Ty asked me what I had put in his lunchbox. I told him a sandwich, some fruit and his favorite chips.

"Umbrella chips?" he said.

I thought about that for a moment, and said, "Oh the Scoops? Right."

Did you ever make that connection with these shapes?

A Day at Peter Pan Mini Golf

It is an Austin institution. Dad has lived here almost 12 years and this was my first trip to Peter Pan min-golf downtown on Barton Springs road. A gorgeous Saturday afternoon in January. Ty and I hit the links for 18 holes.

He did very well. More like hockey than golf, but he had a blast. Here is the first shot from the day that has Ty posing with the bunny obstacle.

Welcome to the House of Fun

We have had some sunny warm days so far this year in Austin (sorry to all our Northern relatives). This allows us to continue to explore the ever changing landscape in the area. A new retail site opened down the street anchored by IKEA. They added a cool playground. This is a shot on one section of it.

Little Monkey, Big Monkey

How many of us refer to our kids as our little monkeys? So in the case of this photo there may actually be three monkeys in this shot. Either way the word cracks me up just as much as the little guy in the t-shirt.

Mystery Photo #1 Answer

It is an abstract closeup of kids colgate strawberry toothpaste. Ty decided he wanted to switch to watermelon now. He doesn't like the traditional mint kind.
Whatever gets them to brush their teeth, right?

Fabulous Fiesta

Found this "vintage" picture of Ty from a few years ago. Thought it might be appropriate to post after the amazing fourth quarter drive from the Horns to put them over the top of Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.

For real local fans, you might recognize the gate behind Ty was part of the North end of the stadium before it was remodeled.

Off to a good start for 2009. Looking forward to sharing lots of new pictures and adventures this year.

Ty in the Massage Chair

The other morning Ty wanted to sit in my massage chair. His sound effects cracked me up. Here's a sample to start off the new year with a smile.
